Responsibilities

  • Identify and target potential clients in the Manchester area, focusing on businesses involved in international trade and logistics.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market share.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and provide exceptional customer service to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
  • Actively seek out and pursue new business opportunities through various channels, including networking events, trade shows, and industry conferences.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify industry trends, competitive landscapes, and potential business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, pricing, and customer service, to ensure smooth execution of sales contracts and customer requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients, addressing their unique needs and offering comprehensive solutions.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts, pricing agreements, and terms and conditions, ensuring favorable outcomes for the company.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments, technological advancements, and regulatory changes that may impact the business.
  • Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to the management team.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field. Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Business Development Manager in the ocean and air freight industry, preferably in the Manchester region.
  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping and logistics, including ocean and air transportation, customs regulations, and supply chain management.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to close deals and meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical mindset, with the ability to analyze market trends and identify business opportunities.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes and driving revenue growth.
  • Proficient in using CRM software and other sales-related tools.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings, industry events, and company-related activities.
