Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve business growth objectives in the Ocean Freight sector.
  • Identify, prospect, and acquire new customers in the UK market through targeted sales activities, including cold calling, networking, and client referrals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to maximize customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify industry trends, competitive intelligence, and potential business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, pricing, and customer service, to ensure effective execution of customer contracts and delivery of services.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to potential customers, showcasing the company’s value proposition and differentiators.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with customers to ensure profitable business relationships.
  • Track and report on sales performance metrics, market trends, and customer feedback to management on a regular basis.
  • Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and market dynamics affecting the Ocean Freight sector.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A master’s degree would be an advantage.
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in business development or sales within the Ocean Freight industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK market, including key players, industry trends, and customer requirements in the Ocean Freight sector.
  • Strong understanding of international shipping, logistics, and supply chain processes related to ocean freight.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to close deals and meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and provide innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and sales tools to track sales activities, manage customer relationships, and generate reports.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
