We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager (Ocean) to join our dynamic team in Manchester. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and expanding our presence in the ocean industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development within the maritime sector, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and target potential clients within the ocean industry, including shipping lines, freight forwarders, and logistics companies.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth and increase market share.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in the industry.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential opportunities for business expansion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and marketing, to develop tailored solutions for clients and ensure successful implementation of projects.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company.
  • Monitor industry developments, regulations, and policies that may impact business opportunities and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and contribute to the overall revenue growth of the company.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on sales activities, market trends, and competitor analysis to the management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience (X years) in business development, sales, or account management within the ocean industry, preferably in shipping or logistics.
  • Strong network and existing relationships with key players in the ocean industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close deals successfully.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to identify market opportunities and drive business growth.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze market trends and competitor activities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
