My client is looking for a very strong Senior BDM / Commercial Manager with the ambition and desire to build something long-term, and the ability to understand the full Freight Forwarding Sales / Operations lifecycle to ensure profitability when negotiating.

They are looking for someone with the following:

P&L awareness, and knowledge of the Operations process, is a strength

Able to buy and sell solution-based Freight Forwarding services

Able to formulate solutions as you go, making informed decisions

Looking to form partnerships and long-term relationships

This is a €400m group, based out of France but with locations across Europe and Asia.

They have doubled in size every 2 years for the last decade through organic growth and acquisition, and they are looking for people who are able to take them to the next level – not just a Salesperson willing to sit on their clients, but someone who is able to see their vision through and build a division.

Seniors have an equity stake and it is anticipated that this role will grow in to one with an equity stake once you have proven yourself.

They currently have a team of 3 in Sales – 2 BDMs in Ireland plus a Commercial Manager in Manchester.

They are now looking to expand team in UK and they are looking for a visionary salesperson with strong knowledge of all sides of a Freight Forwarding business. You could be based anywhere as this will be a self-propelled National role.

The client is very realistic about the current situation and is happy for this candidate to use the power of video conferencing to achieve their goals.

The salary offered is between £40k and £75k depending on experience and the level of business you have to bring with you, plus car and benefits.

Commission is paid at a minimum of 10% of gross profit, and this is for as long as the account keeps trading.

They expect 3 x return per annum, so £80k candidate would need to bring £240k GP, but would earn well in to six figures.

You will be a proven Key Account Manager / Business Development Manager / Commercial Manager with multimodal Freight Forwarding experience, although if you have Warehousing, Ocean, Road etc., and you can prove there is a market for your client base, then you could be considered.

This is a hybrid Sales role so you will need to adapt to the situation to have both Hunter and Farmer mentalities.

We need someone who is striving to grow – someone who is ambitious. The UK is a rich market for this client, and there are no limits – you can expand in to whatever market you can bring. The support will be there with an extensive Operations team and a supportive management team with real buy-in through their equity stakes.
