Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage import/export processes, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and international trade laws.
  • Prepare and process shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and customs declarations.
  • Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and customs authorities to arrange the transportation of goods and resolve any logistical issues.
  • Track shipments and provide timely updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication throughout the supply chain.
  • Calculate and negotiate freight rates with transportation providers, optimizing costs while maintaining service quality.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into relevant systems, maintaining up-to-date records of shipments and customs documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including sales, purchasing, and finance, to facilitate efficient import/export processes.
  • Stay informed about changes in customs regulations and international trade practices, implementing necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in import/export operations, preferably in a road, air, or sea transportation environment.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations and international trade practices.
  • Familiarity with shipping documentation, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and customs declarations.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and software for data entry and tracking shipments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities, capable of resolving issues and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of freight rates and negotiation skills would be an advantage.
  • Relevant certifications or training in logistics and supply chain management are desirable.

Salary

£30,000 to £40,000 p/a
