We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Transport Planner to join our team in the West Midlands. As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective transportation strategies and plans to optimize the movement of goods and people in the region. Your expertise will contribute to improving transportation efficiency, reducing costs, and minimizing environmental impacts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transportation Strategy: Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with the organization’s objectives and goals. Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Route Planning: Analyze transportation data and develop efficient and cost-effective routing plans for the movement of goods and people. Optimize delivery schedules and routes to minimize travel time, fuel consumption, and environmental impact.
  • Network Optimization: Conduct network analysis to identify bottlenecks, congestion areas, and areas of improvement in the transportation infrastructure. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement solutions to enhance the efficiency of the transport network.
  • Demand Forecasting: Utilize historical data, market trends, and other relevant information to forecast transportation demand. Develop models and tools to accurately predict future transportation requirements and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Stay up-to-date with relevant transportation regulations, laws, and compliance requirements. Ensure that transportation operations comply with legal and safety standards.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to gather input, address concerns, and develop effective transportation plans. Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as government agencies, suppliers, and customers.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate transportation performance metrics, such as on-time delivery, transportation costs, and customer satisfaction. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret transportation data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications or additional qualifications are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in transportation planning, logistics, or a related field. Experience in the West Midlands region is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of transportation planning principles, route optimization techniques, and logistics operations. Familiarity with transportation management systems and software is preferred.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex transportation data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful insights. Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to think critically, analyze situations, and propose practical solutions.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Experience in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

We offer a competitive salary range of £35,000 – £45,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
