One of the most common bits of feedback we get from our clients for candidates they’re not interested in taking further is how much the candidate spoke during the interview.

Whether it’s a call, video conference, or face to face interview, the more you talk, generally, the less the interviewer will listen. Certainly make sure you answer the question you’ve been asked, but try to keep it concise.

It’s also really important to ask questions to your interviewer. It doesn’t look good if they’re asking all of the questions. It also gives you a chance to be quiet for a moment and let them do the talking. Use this time to make notes and consider if you need to talk more or less!
